C. Income Sources

Main source of income is farming (75.86%, CBMS Survey 2014) as the municipality is mainly an agricultural area covering a total area of 10,856.27 hectares.

Main crops: Palay – 2605 metric tons (OPAG-Benguet data)
Vegetables –sweet/bell pepper, snap beans, cucumber, pechay, chayote, Chinese cabbage, and others
Root crops – camote, gabi, ube, yam, etc.
Fruits – citrus, banana, avocado, mango, guyavano, papaya, etc.
Livestock raising is equivalent to 50.47% (CBMS, 2014).

Other sources of income include employment either in the government service or private sector, inland fishing, etc.

F. Roles of the town in Relation to Other Towns, the Province, Region and Country

Kapangan did play a significant role in the past when it served as Fil-American soldier’s camp during Second World War. The Camp is known as Cam Utopia, which served as the general headquarters of the Legendary 66th Infantry and United Armed Forces-Northern Luzon (USAF-NL).
