2. Total Garbage computed

•In CY 2014, the top most contributor to waste are households with a quantity of 2,965.71 kgs./day or about 80% of the total waste daily waste of 3,710.42 kgs. Next contributors are stores (570.03 kgs. or 15.36%), followed by institutions (87.88 kgs. or 2.37%)

3.Methods of Disposal

•As per computations, ave. weight of garbage per day for biodegradable waste sums up to 2,315.67 kgs. where majority of the waste 2,162.11 kgs. or 93.37% is composed of vegetable and fruit residues which are usually being fed to animals as discussed earlier (refer to WACS Table No. 4, WACS Fig. No. 1). In this study, all biodegradable waste shall be disposed either to be fed to animals, thru composting, or be placed in garbage pit where areas are available on site (e.g. house backyard, etc.)
•Aside from other degradable waste being diverted through composting, recyclables are also being diverted to the barangay MRFs and mostly are directly being sold to roaming peddlers (scrap buyers).
•Based on the Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS) conducted in 2014, average weight of garbage per day for recyclable wastes show some 650.17 kgs. of garbage with more than half or 356.77 kgs. (54.87%) is composed of PET bottles. All these recyclable wastes shall be considered to be diverted thru the MRFs and shall be sold to direct scrap buyers who are available in all barangays of Kapangan.

•Garbage disposal bins are installed by some barangays and being collected by officials and concerned committees for proper disposal. Simple Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) are also being maintained at the barangay level where waste segregation and recycling are being practiced.
•A municipal MRF is located at the Municipal Compound purposely for the municipal offices.
